Because looking after your wellbeing isn’t an optional extra — it’s essential to thriving in training.

In 2010, I made the difficult decision to leave my medical training. I was a Specialist Registrar in Academic Public Health, with three young children, multiple moves behind us and a 3–4 hour daily commute ahead. I truly couldn’t see how I could complete my training whilst also being a mum. I felt completely lost in the system.

After several years in academia, then the private wellbeing sector, I unexpectedly found my way back to medicine in 2024. I never imagined I would return, it wasn't even on my radar - until one meeting changed everything. I was working with an NHS team on a workplace wellbeing app when I had a sudden realisation that I was on the wrong side of the table. After over a decade away, it was the beginning of my journey back.
Returning has given me a perspective I didn't have before. I know what it feels like to love medicine but feel that you can't make it work. Long working hours, fatigue, competing clinical demands and limited protected learning time can make it all feel overwhelming. And I don't want that to be the experience of the next generation of doctors.
That’s why I created MedQuest.
MedQuest is designed to fit learning into the reality of a doctor’s working life, making education accessible, engaging and rewarding, whilst creating a community where they can make friends, find support, discover opportunities, learn from one another and simply feel that they belong.
Medicine can be incredibly rewarding. But no-one should have to navigate it alone. I hope MedQuest makes sure of that.
